Welcome!

I’m Jack, a designer based in Coventry. This page is dedicated to one of my projects, a rebrand for a local barbershop. So, buckle up, and get ready to plunge into the world of barbershop logo design!

The Challenge: Revitalising a Classic

This Coventry based business owner came to me when he needed a fresh Barbershop logo design creating for his existing business.

They wanted a logo to show regard for the tradition but at the same time modernise into a slick, contemporary style.

This was my mission: to make a barbershop design that would give rebirth to their brand.

Understanding the Essence of the Barbershop

The project started when the shop owner was referred to me and sent over a brief about his vision for a new barbershop logo design.

We discussed their branding needs, keeping in mind creating such a logo which would need to blend the traditional craftsmanship and the inviting atmosphere of the shop.

The conversation guided the design process, reflecting perfectly the unique personality and values of the business in the barbershop logo design.

The Design Process: From Concept to Creation

Sketching Out Ideas

Already inspired, I set to sketching. In my head, I wanted to merge ideas from traditional designs with modern design elements. I attempted a number of symbols, such as combs, scissors, razors, and barber shop poles, and played with font types. Each new sketch showed better a marriage of classic and modern than the previous one.

Refining the Concept

After several iterations and some fantastic feedback from the guys at the barbershop, we developed a design that integrated a straight razor directly into the typography. Clean lines and sharp edges-the razor not only represented the pole outside of a barbers but referenced precision and professionalism. Classic red and white tones brought in a sense of tradition.

“Fantastic service by Jack, hit the spot with what we wanted as a logo to represent our business, professional throughout the process, hopefully this is the start of a long relationship between our brand and Jack working on our future projects together.”
