How a Professional Website Designer Transformed an Online Presence for a Czech Restaurant

When you think of hiring a professional website designer, what you have in mind is not only that the site should look good, but also that it actually works for your business. This is just what I did when teaming up with a restaurant in the Czech Republic.

Below is a case study of how I designed a website that didn’t only have a sharp look but would also connect the restaurant with its customers, showcase their menu, and promote their events.

The Challenge: From Outdated to Outstanding

This restaurant was well-known and respected in their community, but their website? That was a completely different story. It was non-existent.

What they needed was a way to inform their current regulars and entice new customers. They were looking for a modern website which would be responsive and work on any device. An easy way for the customer to find and read the menu. A clear display of the upcoming events and specials. A simple, integrated reservation system. Being a professional website designer, the task was not only to create a website but to create an online experience that would make their business shine.

The Approach:

Creating a Website That Works for the Business and the Customer

I didn’t start designing until I had a grasp of what made this restaurant special. What do their customers rave about? What experience are they trying to make for them? So, I flew over to Czech to speak with the owners, take some pro photos for the website and get a feel for what they had to offer. The answer to these questions led into every design decision I made.

Here’s how we approached the project:

Visual Design to Complement the Ambiance: The restaurant was cosy and rustic, so I created a website that captured some of the same warmth. High-quality food and venue shots were used front and centre to invoke an inviting atmosphere, much like that in real life. Colours and layout-clean, simple yet rich in detail.

Mobile First, Always: Since most take a trip to the restaurant’s website on their phones, I kept the design mobile-first. The new site looks simply amazing on a phone, a tablet, or on a desktop. And the best? You can actually get around the menu on any device seamlessly without awkward zooming or scrolling.

Smarter Updates: This restaurant wanted an easier way to update their menus, and I built them a system that let them do just that. Be it the addition of a new seasonal dish or the announcement of a special, they would update their site in minutes without technical headaches.

Events on Display: Regular events were held at the restaurant, but they currently had no way of letting people know it was happening, this was added to the new site.

Easy Reservations: We integrated an easily accessible reservation system, enabling customers to book a table right from the website. No more third-party apps or complicated forms-just a quick and easy way to secure a spot.

The Results: A Website That Works

Once the new site went live, several of its many benefits were immediately apparent. Without getting into too much detail about the statistics, what I can say is that customers found it much easier to navigate the site and keep informed about upcoming events, menu changes, and specials.

Most importantly, the owners now had full control over the content, which means they could make updates with ease without having to call a professional website designer every time they wanted to change a dish or promote an event.

The new site made it easier on customers to:

Simple

Easily navigate the menu without having to count on their glasses to read it on their phone

Informative

Find out about upcoming events

Direct

Order a table directly from the site

Why a Professional Website Designer Is the way to go

There’s an awful lot of website builders out there, doing a lot of the same things, cranking out cookie-cutter websites. But when you work with a professional web designer, you get something different-something personal, tailored and specific to your business.

This isn’t about just taking this restaurant online; it’s more about an extension of the brand itself. A place that speaks to clients, tells them about their unique selling proposition, and informs everybody with ease about everything.

A professional website designer can take the essence of your business and translate that into an actual working website. Be it increasing your reservations, highlighting special events, or just making life easier for people to find your menu, the right website will make all the difference.
